  • Meant to Be: Miley and Liam

    Posted on January 29, 2016.

Rewind to March 2010: After months of rumors swirling that “The Last Song” costars Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had a real-life romance, they officially announced that they were dating. They seemed like the perfect couple: young, attractive, and happy together! In 2012, after many highs and lows, the couple had gotten engaged. Unfortunately, the highs and lows (cheating rumors, distance) took their toll on the relationship, and the couple ended their engagement (and relationship) in 2013.

Enter extra spunky Miley! Following the split was a lot of twerking, barely-there outfits, and a wild side to Miley that her Disney fans hadn’t seen before. No fairy tale ending here, we thought.

Almost out of the blue, the couple announced this month that they are engaged for a second time! Who even knew they were a couple again? Apparently, she’s even noted that she’s growing her hair out for him. If that isn’t love, what is? We are so happy for the reunited couple… Definitely the couple of the year!

  • The 90’s Are Totally Back

    Posted on January 27, 2016.

It’s no secret that the 90s was one of the absolute best decades, hands down (Floral skater dresses? Yes please!). So we are very happy to see that some of our favorite TV shows from the 90s are coming back to the small screen!

We are super excited to be able to relive our “Boy Meets World” days with the new “Girl Meets World” sequel, which follows Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley, through her many adventures living in NYC. Yes, Cory and Topanga got married and had kids, just like we were always rooting for! Love it.

Next, get ready for the reprisal of some of your favorite “Full House” characters on the sequel, “Fuller House,” which premieres next month and features many of your old favorites, including DJ Tanner, Stephanie Tanner, and even Kimmy Gibler! While the show mainly focuses on the three women helping each other raise their children, some of your old favorites, like Danny, Joey, and Jesse, will pop up as well. Hot dog!

Ok, we officially miss the 90’s tons. Where’s our scrunchies?

  • Oscars Controversy

    Posted on January 22, 2016.

With the 88th annual Academy Awards coming up, there’s the usual chatter about the nominees, the anticipated fashion, and so forth. But this year, another topic of conversation is in the air: racial unrest in Hollywood. There has been controversy due to the fact that zero black actors or actresses have been nominated for any of the major acting awards, so much so that director Spike Lee, as well as Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, have called for a boycott of the awards. Host Chris Rock has called attention to the issue in a light-hearted way by calling the awards “the white BET awards.” And you know an issue has reached its peak when it has its own hashtag. The Oscars’ hashtag? #OscarsSoWhite.

This whole issue is definitely food for thought. We’re guessing Chris Rock will have more to say on awards night. And whatever your thoughts on the issue, you can tune in to the red carpet and check out the always-astonishing Oscar fashion moments, brought to you by your favorite celebs! The Oscars air on February 28th, 2016.

  • 2016 Oscar Red Carpet Predictions!

    Posted on January 20, 2016.

Ok, so we like movies and all, but with the Oscars approaching, us girls know that the real action is on the red carpet. Here are some predictions for what some of our favorite A-list ladies will be wearing the night of the Academy Awards:

Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) – Charlize loves long, form-fitting dresses (and so would we, if we had her body!). She often looks like a gorgeous version of the awards statue herself! We hope she sticks to her style, but includes some classy accents, like a bit of sparkle or lace.

Emily Blunt (Sicario) – Emily always accentuates her great smile and body with dresses that compliment her, and she’s not afraid to experiment with different colors and silhouettes. This Oscars, we’re hoping to see her in a dress with a delicate cut-out (we’ve seen her rock a keyhole cut-out, and it looked amazing) – maybe an open back – while keeping to the flair that makes her style unique.

Rachel McAdams (Spotlight) – Rachel likes to experiment with different cuts as well – she even donned a (very feminine) suit to last year’s ESPYs, but we’re hoping she dresses in the classic look that she wears so well – a feminine and soft cut, with elegant details like lace overlay. We’re just saying.

Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) – Although we’ve seen J. Law in various styles, we have noticed she loves bold colors, and has a soft spot for both curve-hugging strapless dresses, and A-line classic Hollywood bombshell pieces. We hope she sticks to one of the later for the awards, because she pulls these two looks off like the pro that she is.

Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs) – Kate, ever the starlet, seems to have a thing for both interesting necklines, and pretty details, like jeweled panels. We think she should continue working the neckline, and choose a dress that features either a deep V-neckline, or a high halter neckline, both of which she looks absolutely divine in!

The Oscars air February 28th – tune in to see A-list red carpet fashion!

  • Our Fave Golden Globe Winners!

    Posted on January 15, 2016.

We’re still buzzing with excitement over this year’s Golden Globes. Ok, now that we’ve gotten our best-dressed list out of the way, here are our top 5 winning movies and shows honored at the awards that we cannot get enough of:

-Ok, so who doesn’t love Taraji P. Henson as Cookie on Empire? This show, centered around a family-owned hip-hop label and featuring lots of fun cameos, is a hit largely because of Henson, who steals the show every time with her feisty personality and feistier outfits. This is why she won “Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama.” Go watch this show!

-We love the TV series “Mozart in the Jungle” for its unique look at being a part of the classical music world while figuring out how to make it in NYC. The show was awarded “Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical” (Gael Garcia Bernal, who stars as Rodrigo) and “Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical.”

-“Steve Jobs,” the biopic of the co-founder of Apple, is a riveting look at the very complex man behind the products we love. This movie did great at the awards: it won “Best Screenplay, Motion Picture,” and Kate Winslet won “Best Supporting Actress” for her role as Joanna Hoffman.

-This year’s Golden Globes really belonged to the wildly successful “The Revenant.” Leo DiCaprio killed it as Hugh Glass, the main character in this western thriller. The plot, revolving around a group of hunters racing to escape a hostile Native American tribe, and the discord that emerges within the group while they fight to stay alive, kept us totally engaged. Not to mention, this movie did amazing at the awards: it won “Best Director,” “Best Actor” (Leo!), and “Best Motion Picture, Drama.”

-Make sure to see “Room,” starring Brie Larson. This movie, about a woman and her son being held captive for years, then finally being freed into the real world and their struggle to adjust, is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. No wonder they awarded Larson with “Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama.”

  • Our Top 5 Golden Globe Looks

    Posted on January 13, 2016.

So, as with any awards show, the most fun part for us is critiquing the amazing parade of clothing of the attendees, and this year’s Golden Globes were no exception. Here’s a quick run-down of the 5 looks we loved most:

-Lily James looked like a dream in her flowy, draped Marchesa gown, complete with a subtle cut-out diagonal to the bust, and even a fluttering cape! This pastel dress made her look like a princess, and the Harry Winston jewels only added to that look.

-Julianne Moore always dresses to kill at awards shows, but she went above and beyond expectations at the Golden Globes in her sapphire-blue sequined Tom Ford dress, paired perfectly with Chopard jewels. The dress extends to a velvet piece around the neck, making Julianne appear more regal than ever. Well done, girl!

-J. Law brought it this year in a stunning Dior couture gown, cut gorgeously to show off the sides of her torso. This tone of red is totally flattering on Lawrence, as are the Chopard diamonds around her neck. We absolutely love this look!

-Olivia Wilde shows off her figure with a plunging neckline in her maroon Michael Kors dress. We love the Bulgari jeweled choker; it’s the absolute perfect touch to this look. The silhouette of this dress is lovely, and the sequins only add to the Wilde’s shine.

-Kirsten Dunst has come a long way!  She looked like the star she is at this year’s Golden Globes in a Valentino couture gown, featuring a neckline that plunges almost to her navel, and simple straps horizontally along the bodice. In raven black, Dunst is all drama, in a good way.

    Which were your favorite looks?!

Although we really can’t complain about the weather here in Miami (sorry, guys!), we know it’s pretty chilly up north. We totally feel for you guys, so much so, that we made a quick list of ways to deal with the chill:

-As much as you may not want to, go out and hit the gym. Yes, it’s cold on the way to the gym, but you’ll leave in a sweat, and with an adrenaline rush to boot, which will help with the winter blues.

-Another awesome way to warm up in the winter? The sauna/steam room. Nothing feels better than letting steam bathe your cracked, wind-worn skin, and it’s great for getting toxins out of your body as well.

-Dress to impress AND be warm at the same time. While it’s hard to part from your favorite sweatpants and hoodie when it’s frosty out, you can still be snuggly while being stylish. Try our Grey Con Body Sweater Dress with stockings and a cute pair of booties… voila! You look AND feel smoking!

-They say a nice hot toddy is perfect for warming up. But you definitely don’t need to drink alcohol to warm up. This is the time of year to enjoy that extra-large mug of hot chocolate, or whichever warm concoction you love most… embrace these warm traditions, because once spring hits, it just isn’t the same.

-Come visit us in Miami! The lowest it’s gotten so far down here is about 66 degrees. And we have beach, lots of beach. And, you can visit any of our 6 Blush locations in person for the freshest selection of trending threads! What’s not to love?

    Stay warm, Blush girls!

  • Your Hottest Celeb Crushes Are TAKEN!

    Posted on January 6, 2016.

Two of music’s hottest young bachelors appear to be off the market! That’s right, while ringing in the New Year, both Harry Styles and Justin Beiber appear to have found love.

Harry Styles linked up with Kendall Jenner in St. Barths just as 2016 began, and the two were caught canoodling in pictures. Kendall’s sister Khloe fueled rumors that the two were together, saying that to her, taking a trip to St. Barths would be considered “dating.” Aww, these two look adorable together… we hope it works out!

Now, onto more controversial news, as Beliebers take Justin’s dating life very seriously. It’s been reported that he is dating Hailey Baldwin (model and daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin), and both of them have posted several pictures on Instagram of the two of them celebrating New Years together. They’re adorbs, but of course, Beiber fans are taking the news hard.

We think both young couples are so cute together, but of course we’re a little jealous that these cuties are taken! Time will tell whether these are flings, or the real thing. Stay tuned!

  • New Year, New Trends

    Posted on January 1, 2016.

Of course, we totally embrace new trends at Blush, but there are some trends from 2015 that we hope linger just a little into 2016:

-The 90s – so the 90s totally came back this year. We’re talking shirts tied around the waist, chokers, and cute floral skater dresses. Yes, even streaks of pink in our hair came back! God, we love the 90s, and we don’t know when they’ll be back, so we’re hoping they stay just a bit longer and let us relive our Clueless days.

-Athleisure – this trend made our year. A cross between comfortable athletic wear and stylish pieces? Yes, please! Honestly, do you know any girl that would NOT be down with getting an excuse to wear leggings out, in the name of being trendy? We don’t! Please let us keep our tight pants and cute sports bra tops in the spotlight!

-Unique Cut-Outs – If random cut-outs ever had a high point, it was this year. From a peek of skin just above the navel to a slash diagonal to the neckline, there were so many ways to wear this trend. And being all shapes and sizes, it’s been fun to show off the parts of our body we want to show off, rather than the predictable stomach-baring pieces that we only wear when we’ve been actually hitting the gym consistently.

That being said: 2016 trends, we’re ready for you!
