  • NYE 2017: How To Ring In The New Year

    Posted on December 15, 2016.

We’re almost halfway through December, and if you’re like us, you’re ready to figure out how to ring in 2017 (because for most of us, 2016 was a complete wash on all fronts, and we’ll be celebrating new beginnings big time). If you’re here in Miami, some huge parties have already been announced. Here are the parties we currently have our eyes on, and there’s a little something for everyone on this list:

Justin Bieber at Fontainebleau: Not much to say about this, as it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a phenomenal night. But before you start planning to ring in 2017 with the Biebs, be forewarned that tickets are going for $500.

Pitbull at Bayfront Park: Mr. 305 is throwing a free celebration at Bayfront Park. We’d advise getting there earlier rather than later, though, as this event will likely fill up fast. Dale!

The Roots at Knight Concert Hall: Living legends The Roots will likely be the ultimate way to groove into the New Year. And with prices ranging from $50 to $600, everyone is welcome.

Now, we just need to plan our outfits, which is the fun part! Bring it, 2017!!

  • Cocktails, Hold The Calories

    Posted on December 13, 2016.

It’s the time of the year to drink and be merry, but between classic holiday food and the hoard of desserts, many of us are looking to cut a couple calories. A surprising way to do so? Drinks. Yep, holiday drinks aren’t limited to heavy eggnog. There are plenty of lighter options that will make you just as merry. To get you off to the holiday season on the right foot, here is a recipe for a low-cal version of eggnog with a kick that will leave you feeling light and jolly:

    eggnog

    Ingredients:

    1.5 oz Cinnamon Flavored Vodka

    Ground Cinnamon

    3 oz low-fat eggnog

    Directions:

Fill a shaker with ice cubes, vodka, and eggnog and shake. Fill a low ball glass with ice cubes and pour shaker ingredients into glass. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

Want an even lighter drink with a slightly fruity twist? We’re loving ourselves a Pear & Sage Sparkler. Check out the recipe here:

    sparkler

    Ingredients:

    1 cup sugar

    3 cups water

    2 diced pears

    20 fresh sage leaves

    Bourbon, to taste

    Directions:

Bring the sugar and water to a boil over medium heat, then turn down to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Add pears and sage, then simmer until the entire mixture has reduced by half (about 1 hour). Let cool and pour over sparkling or soda water and add bourbon.

    It’s that simple! Cheers!

  • Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016!

    Posted on December 6, 2016.

    vs-fashion-show-2016-1200x675

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which went down Monday night in Paris, featured many highlights, surprises, and of course, lingerie we could only wish was hanging in our closet. Here were some of the hottest moments from the show:

-Kendall Jenner worked the runway in a black and white (and totally gorge) outfit. Ever the angel, she looked absolutely stunning. Also appearing on the runway was her BFF, Gigi Hadid, who turned heads in a super-strappy, all black get-up…. Fierce!

-Jasmine Tookes wore the 2016 Fantasy Bra, which took 700 hours to make and is estimated to be worth $3 million. It was definitely a sight to behold (and a bra we’d really, really, really like to at least try on once).

-While we loved seeing new Angels rock the runway, we’re always happy to see the faces of some of the originals. Taking the runway by storm this year were Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Karlie Kloss, still doing their thing.

-Of course, always manages to take the VS Fashion Show to the next level. This year featured performances by Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd. They all did amazing, and added a fun twist to an already amazing fashion show.

Bravo, ladies! We loved the show! Until next year…

Living in Florida, it is inevitable that you will, at some point, make your way to Disney Land. And even if you don’t live in the Sunshine State, you should definitely make the trip. After all, they are known for their world-class rides and attractions, they feature your favorite Disney characters, and they also have an amazing selection of… food. We’ve picked our top 3 favorite desserts from their extensive menu. Here you have it… things you must try at Disney World!

-Carrot Cake Cookies! So in a mash-up version of traditional carrot cake with cream cheese icing, these babies consist of two delicious carrot cake cookies with cream cheese icing sandwiched in between! Mmm! Check these out at The Writer’s Stop coffee shop in Hollywood Studios.

-Kitchen Sink Sundae. This sundae is exactly what it sounds like: all kinds of ice cream topped with all kinds of toppings. It actually has five flavors of ice cream, and is absolutely gigantic, so get ready to share! You can find this treat at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, right next to Epcot.

-Tarte Aux Fraises. You might not suspect that this little tart, filled with vanilla cream and topped with strawberries, would be capable of changing your life, but it totally is. It’s mind-blowingly delicious and just the right amount of sweet. Scoop this one up at Les Halles Boulangerie at Epcot.

  • We’re Addicted: “Westworld”

If you’re as wrapped up as we are in the breakout HBO sci-fi Western series, “Westworld,” as we are, welcome to the club. This show plays with your mind in serious ways, as it takes place in a fictional futuristic Western amusement park of sorts, where robots host humans who are essentially allowed to do anything to the robots that they wish. And as you can imagine, it gets dark quickly when humans are given free rein to act on any impulse they have.

With Season 1 winding down, we’re not only anticipating the final episodes of the season (and who makes it out alive), but super excited that the show has been confirmed for a 10-episode second season. As if that weren’t awesome enough, Ed Harris has confirmed that he’ll be returning as the Man In Black for Season 2. We’re just waiting to hear who else in the cast will be returning for round two of the twisted adventure known as “Westworld.”

  • Give Thanks In Style!

    Posted on November 17, 2016.

Turkey Day is just about here, and we definitely have food on the brain, but we’re also starting to think about the perfect Thanksgiving Day outfit. Generally, we’re thinking muted fall colors, cute stuff that we’ve been waiting to wear all summer (like knee-high boots and ribbed turtleneck dresses), and also something comfy enough to accommodate space in our tummy for the delicious food we’ll be eating! Of course, it all comes down to what your plans are for Thanksgiving. Here are a couple different scenarios, and the perfect outfit for each from our selection of threads:

    blb05963

-Thanksgiving at your new boyfriend’s house: You want to look cute, but also family friendly. A good middle ground? Try our Sweater Dress (in either charcoal or black), which is sweet yet sexy, and offers plenty of coverage.

    blb05966a
-Friendsgiving with your friends: You’ll likely be celebrating potluck style, with lots of wine (totally adulting). Here’s what we would wear: our Navy Suede Lace-Up Tank Top with our Black Denim High-Waisted Jeans, for a dressy yet chill look.

    blb05962

-Turkey Day with the family: No real reason to dress up, but every reason to look cute in Snaps to your friends. We would go for our Black Cross Over Tee with our Dark Denim Skinny Jean.

Of course, feel free to accessorize as you please! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  • We’re Loving The Mannequin Challenge!

If you haven’t heard of the Mannequin Challenge by now, where have you been?! This challenge is new, but it’s all the rage right now, and basically consists of groups of people frozen in some kind of scene (classroom, locker room, etc). For some reason, usually “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd is playing in the background (random!). This trend has made for lots of laughs and shows no signs of slowing down. Our favorite mannequin challenges include…

-Michelle Obama with the NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers at the White House!

-The Sacramento Kings had a hilarious team challenge that included one of the player peeing in the corner… Eek!

-Whistle Sports did a crazy one where everyone was in a truly mid-action position… One guy even balanced a basketball on his head!

-We love all of the high school ones! Whether it depicts just chilling in class or a full-on fight in the yard, we love all of the school spirit!

-Rae Sremmurd actually captured their concert (audience included!) frozen to “Black Beatles,” until the beat dropped and everyone went crazy!

Of course, we had to join in on the fun here at Blush! Check out our Instagram and see us frozen in the office mid-photo shoot! Just a few moments capture all the crazy fun we have in our office… take a peek!
