  • Hot Right Now: Rogue One

    Posted on December 29, 2016.

Rogue One, the first stand-alone movie within the Star Wars anthology, just killed it at the global box office this weekend, passing the $600 million mark in global sales (and it hasn’t even been in theaters for 2 weeks). Possibly on the heels of the original Princess Leia (Carrie Fischer)’s real-life death, and definitely on account of a total blockbuster of high enough quality to be the first of a new anthology, Rogue One is definitely the movie of the hour (and definitely quite the movie to end the year on).

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, this movie takes you on a wild adventure, with its characters doing anything they can to gain knowledge of and control over the Death Star, a mysterious weapon capable of wiping out an entire planet. We don’t want to spoil anything for you, but this movie is action-packed, more emotionally potent than you may expect from a Star Wars flick, and opens the door just a crack to the possibility of a sequel.

In short, whether you’re a die-hard Star Wars fan, or just a newbie, this film has it all. What are you waiting for?! Go check it out!

  • Skin Care Basics

    Posted on December 27, 2016.

While the makeup is the fun stuff, every girl needs a good skin care routine to create a base of glowing skin to build on. Here is a run-down of how to create that perfect regimen to get your skin looking fresh:

-Figure out what type of skin you have, so you know what products and care will best suit you. Oily skin? Dry skin? Seeing the first little lines in your forehead? Whatever the issue, identifying it will make it that much easier to tackle.

-Drink lots of water, as this is how your skin is able to produce fresh cells and keep your skin as fresh-looking as possible, whatever type of skin you may have.

-We can’t emphasize this one enough… WEAR SUNSCREEN! A couple of good reasons include avoiding premature aging and keeping melanoma at bay. We know it doesn’t seem important now, but you will thank us later!

-Do your research. Don’t just buy into fancy miracle creams. Sometimes a supplement will offer more results. When in doubt, consult with a dermatologist.

-This may be the most common yet most ignored skin advice of all: remove your makeup before bed! Your skin needs to breathe, and it can’t do that while constantly slathered in makeup. Not to mention eye makeup getting in your eyes while you sleep (liquid liner is the worst!)

Once you’ve got these basics down, you can begin to build a more specific regimen. But let’s start with sunscreen and makeup remover, shall we? New year, new you!

  • The Perfect NYE Outfit

    Posted on December 23, 2016.

New Year’s is just a blink away, and if you’re anything like us, finding that perfect NYE outfit is at the top of your to-do list. After all, ladies, we’re just a week away from 2017. So, we thought we could help you craft the perfect look, Blush style. This is what we came up with:

-We would start with our very own White Body Con Dress. This dress features a deep V at the neckline, spaghetti straps, and a semi-open back. After all, what better way to end the year than in a scorching white-hot dress?

-Ok, so this dress is simply dying to be blinged out. We’re thinking jeweled bracelets, a jeweled choker, maybe even a little tiara (because why not?). This is your moment to make the dress truly yours.

-So now we’re up to shoes. We suggest either blinged-out heels (see above), or black stilettos to contrast with the white dress. Whichever shoes you pick, make sure they are on fleek!

-Hair and makeup? We’re thinking shimmery and sparkly makeup with dark red lips and black winged eyeliner, for just a little pinch of drama. For hair, we’re thinking maybe an updo (more drama, and somewhere to put your tiara!).

-Last but not least, if you live somewhere cold, we suggest a faux fur white jacket, maybe even a little shaggy, to put a cherry on top of this ensemble (and stay warm while looking fab).

Stay safe, and Happy New Years!

  • Secret Santa... What To Get?

    Posted on December 21, 2016.

In offices and schools across the U.S., it’s one of the most wonderful times of the year: Secret Santa time! Yep, it’s time to pick a name of one of your coworkers or classmates out of a hat, and find them the perfect gift, while you wait for a surprise gift from your Secret Santa! This game is lots of fun, regardless of how well you know the person you picked. There is something for everyone, and just in case you’re unsure of what to get, we’ve compiled a quick guide to getting that perfect, unique Secret Santa gift (because we all have enough gift cards):

-For the coffee lover: Every office has an absolute coffee fanatic. This is a fun one because you can either get them a unique bag of coffee that they haven’t tried, or you can get them a cute mug or other coffee accessory, like a personalized teaspoon to mix their morning mojo.

-For the candy lover: Stores like Dylan’s Candy Bar, among others, make it really easy to personalize a candy gift by mixing and matching your choices of candy. So whether they like gummies, chocolates, or any other type of candy, a gift like this is guaranteed to satisfy even the sweetest of teeth.

-For the girly girl: Your ultra-feminine coworker that’s always retouching her makeup? You may want to make a trip to Sephora, where they have a ton of cute holiday palates and lip gloss collections, as well as quick, on-the-go fixes, like sparkly pouches stuffed with emergency beauty supplies.

-For someone who needs to relax: A good go-to for a busy coworker is a gift certificate for a massage. But an alternative is a gift to bring the relaxation to their home. We’re thinking soothing candles (lavender is a very relaxing scent), essential oils for the bath, etc.

-For someone you really don’t know too well: This is always a tricky situation. What to get the girl in another department that you don’t have too much interaction with? We say, go with something you love, because they very well may like it too. Maybe your favorite treat from the bakery by your house, or some versatile earrings you found at a discount store that you just cannot live without. We’re sure you have good taste, so just go with your gut. If all else fails, most people would happily accept a Starbucks gift card!

Good luck, and a Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

  • NYE 2017: How To Ring In The New Year

    Posted on December 15, 2016.

We’re almost halfway through December, and if you’re like us, you’re ready to figure out how to ring in 2017 (because for most of us, 2016 was a complete wash on all fronts, and we’ll be celebrating new beginnings big time). If you’re here in Miami, some huge parties have already been announced. Here are the parties we currently have our eyes on, and there’s a little something for everyone on this list:

Justin Bieber at Fontainebleau: Not much to say about this, as it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a phenomenal night. But before you start planning to ring in 2017 with the Biebs, be forewarned that tickets are going for $500.

Pitbull at Bayfront Park: Mr. 305 is throwing a free celebration at Bayfront Park. We’d advise getting there earlier rather than later, though, as this event will likely fill up fast. Dale!

The Roots at Knight Concert Hall: Living legends The Roots will likely be the ultimate way to groove into the New Year. And with prices ranging from $50 to $600, everyone is welcome.

Now, we just need to plan our outfits, which is the fun part! Bring it, 2017!!

  • Cocktails, Hold The Calories

    Posted on December 13, 2016.

It’s the time of the year to drink and be merry, but between classic holiday food and the hoard of desserts, many of us are looking to cut a couple calories. A surprising way to do so? Drinks. Yep, holiday drinks aren’t limited to heavy eggnog. There are plenty of lighter options that will make you just as merry. To get you off to the holiday season on the right foot, here is a recipe for a low-cal version of eggnog with a kick that will leave you feeling light and jolly:

    eggnog

    Ingredients:

    1.5 oz Cinnamon Flavored Vodka

    Ground Cinnamon

    3 oz low-fat eggnog

    Directions:

Fill a shaker with ice cubes, vodka, and eggnog and shake. Fill a low ball glass with ice cubes and pour shaker ingredients into glass. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

Want an even lighter drink with a slightly fruity twist? We’re loving ourselves a Pear & Sage Sparkler. Check out the recipe here:

    sparkler

    Ingredients:

    1 cup sugar

    3 cups water

    2 diced pears

    20 fresh sage leaves

    Bourbon, to taste

    Directions:

Bring the sugar and water to a boil over medium heat, then turn down to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Add pears and sage, then simmer until the entire mixture has reduced by half (about 1 hour). Let cool and pour over sparkling or soda water and add bourbon.

    It’s that simple! Cheers!

  • Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016!

    Posted on December 6, 2016.

    vs-fashion-show-2016-1200x675

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which went down Monday night in Paris, featured many highlights, surprises, and of course, lingerie we could only wish was hanging in our closet. Here were some of the hottest moments from the show:

-Kendall Jenner worked the runway in a black and white (and totally gorge) outfit. Ever the angel, she looked absolutely stunning. Also appearing on the runway was her BFF, Gigi Hadid, who turned heads in a super-strappy, all black get-up…. Fierce!

-Jasmine Tookes wore the 2016 Fantasy Bra, which took 700 hours to make and is estimated to be worth $3 million. It was definitely a sight to behold (and a bra we’d really, really, really like to at least try on once).

-While we loved seeing new Angels rock the runway, we’re always happy to see the faces of some of the originals. Taking the runway by storm this year were Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Karlie Kloss, still doing their thing.

-Of course, always manages to take the VS Fashion Show to the next level. This year featured performances by Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd. They all did amazing, and added a fun twist to an already amazing fashion show.

Bravo, ladies! We loved the show! Until next year…
