Calling All Capricorns: This Is Your Year
Posted on January 12, 2018.
Okay, Capricorn ladies, it’s currently your time to shine! While birthday celebrations may currently be underway, we wanted to help shine a little light on the new year to come, and what 2018 holds for your sign.
Get ready, because this year is all about change! While this may be a little scary, just remember that the only constant is change, and that if you face the changes ahead of you head on, you have lots of growth to look forward to. In particular, the coming year will be bringing you new opportunities. Scratch that – the year won’t actually be bringing you anything. You’ll be facing new opportunities thanks to the hard work you’ve consistently put in over the past year. Ever the independent sign, you’ll be tempted to capitalize on these opportunities by yourself, but this year, perhaps the greatest change of all that you’ll face is that you’ll have to rely on friends and contacts to make true progress. Trust that the network of people in your life have got your back, and you’ll be able to do much more than you ever would be able to do going at it alone.
That said, this is the year to get it! Go for that new job! Make that move across the country! This is the year to really make it count, as the stars are aligned in your favor. Get it, girl!
#TimesUp at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards
Posted on January 10, 2018.
This year’s Golden Globe Awards packed a bit more substance than picking our best dressed celebrities of the evening. 2018’s Golden Globes, which aired on Sunday night, served a purpose. The “#MeToo” movement, which began in an attempt to raise awareness of sexual assault and harassment against women, struck particularly close to home for the entertainment industry in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Sunday’s awards show was a culmination of the movement and the responsibility Hollywood feels to represent all industries in clapping back at sexual violence towards women with its own hashtag, #TimesUp.
All but three attendees wore black to this year’s awards. Yep, the stars left behind their usual ravishing reds and shimmering golds for a more solemn black to symbolize unity within their movement. That isn’t to say the fashion wasn’t fabulous; these were some of the hottest black dresses we have ever seen! Kendall Jenner absolutely killed it in her Giambattista Valli haute couture gown, which had a massive, fun train. Who said dressing for a cause can’t be super stylish?
Highlights from the evening include many great speeches by some of our Hollywood favorites. However, no speech struck a chord as powerful as that of Oprah’s, which brought everyone in the room to their feet in thunderous applause. It was so powerful, in fact, that people are now urging her to run for President in 2020! She definitely let the world know that time is up for women to be treated as second class citizens.
It’s truly incredible that Hollywood rose to the challenge of facing a societal problem that has gone on for way too long. Much love to our favorite actresses (and actors) who made this a night to remember by fighting for such an important cause!
Wine O’Clock (For Your Hair)
Posted on January 4, 2018.
What’s better than a glass of wine at the salon? How about hair products made out of wine? Yes, the geniuses at HASK beauty products have combined our two favorite things and come out with a line of wine-infused hair products(!). We’re talking leave-in sprays and deep conditioning packets that contain all of the same benefits that red wine is now known for, including free radical-fighting antioxidants, and lots of vitamins and omega oils from grapeseed (#winning).
Their leave-in sprays come in your choice of white wine, rose, or red wine, and the deep conditioners come in an array of wine selections, but don’t worry about coming to work smelling like you spent the night hitting the bottle, because these products will leave your hair smelling fresh as grapes. The packaging will also look very familiar to you if you’re as much of a wine connoisseur as we are.
So go ahead, try one of their deep conditioning packets, which gives you just enough time to enjoy a glass of wine. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!
New Year’s Resolutions for Real Women!
Posted on December 26, 2017.
Ahh, New Year’s resolutions… we love to make them, but we usually end up breaking them! We decided to look for some really solid ones that could become more of a lifestyle than some quick thing we start that is destined to fail. For example, a lot of people resolve to go on a diet. This works usually until you are confronted with your first plate of cheese fries! That is because you’ve constricted yourself rather than adopt a more broadly healthy lifestyle. Here are some resolutions that will make 2018 your best year yet:
-Indulge in a Hobby: This one is easy and hard at the same time. We all have things we like to do, but not many of us make time for those things. Make the time, because the things you are passionate about are what connects you back to yourself in the midst of work and other obligations. Be it a jewelry making class or finally trying out martial arts, follow your heart to what makes you feel happy.
-Travel: No one’s asking you to forget about work and become a globetrotter, but traveling opens up your mind to new places, customs, and ideas, and if you can just take one trip within the next year, we guarantee you’ll be happy you went. Where is a place you’ve always wanted to see? They say the world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page…. Food for thought!
-Integrate a Healthier Lifestyle: Rather than set a rigorous workout/diet plan that will be easy to give up on, just make little changes that you are comfortable with. Hate the gym? Go on a walk when you feel like it. Eat lots of fast food? Check out healthier options that appeal to you. Many meat eaters do not realize how delicious veggie burgers actually are! Let yourself be adventurous this year, and figure out what healthy living means to you.
-Face Your Finances: Many of us simply turn our cheek on debts and other things that cause financial stress. This just leads to more worry, because we really don’t know the truth about our finances, and then more worry, because we have no plan when we don’t know the facts, and that leaves us feeling defenseless. Girl, it’s time to shine a light on your finances and make a plan to get where you want to be! We promise it’s not as scary as it seems!
-Be Present: Enjoy the little things each day brings. When you’re worrying about the future or regretting things in the past, the current moment gets stolen from you. Make a point to bring yourself back to the NOW, and relish in little things like a good cup of coffee or catching up with an old friend.
Time to live your best life, Blush girl! May this be your best year yet.
Toe to Toe: Netflix SAG Nominations
Posted on December 18, 2017.
If you’re a Netflix series addict, and you’ve seen this year’s SAG nominations, then you know it’s about to go down. Biographical drama “The Crown” goes up against sci-fi horror series “Stanger Things,” and we’re already making popcorn for Thursday’s awards to see which of our Netflix faves receives the honors. In case you aren’t up to date with these gems, “The Crown” is a historical drama about the life and times of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, while ‘Stranger Things” is set in the 1980s, and follows the supernatural events that take place after the disappearance of a boy from a small town. Ahh, both so different, yet so utterly enjoyable.
The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards go to the best of the best in both cinema and television. Some award categories that both “The Crown” and “Stranger Things” are up for include “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series,” and “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.” This is gonna be a nail biter, for sure. Make sure you tune in on Thursday to see the winners (and the fashion) at this year’s SAG Awards. Best of luck to all!

And The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year Is…
Posted on December 13, 2017.
Pantone has announced their 2018 color of the year, and she is a beauty. The color is Ultra Violet, which is a color that symbolizes a lot of things we look forward to in the new year. A cosmic shade of blue-based purple, Ultra Violet is an imaginative and brilliant color that inspires contemplation and inventive solutions to problems. After a roller coaster year in 2017, the calmness of Ultra Violet is much needed, to say the least.
Let’s be real. Our country has become wounded and divided over the past year, not only due to idealogical and political divides, but also due to many natural disasters. 2017 was pretty chaotic, all around. Pantone definitely recognizes this, as they reportedly chose this color to reflect a “complex” time. Ultra Violet is not only calming, mystical and spiritual, but also creative and somewhat provocative. It does indeed represent new possibilities and a hopeful future. We are inspired by Pantone’s color choice to think outside of the box for ways to make our unique mark on healing our country.
It definitely doesn’t hurt that this color is also super pretty! Oh, the nail shades to come! Cheers to a year full of new possibilities!
The VS Angels Take Shanghai
Posted on November 29, 2017.
The Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show has taken its Angels all around the world, and always features top-notch musical performances paired with the hottest lingerie imaginable on all of your favorite models. This year, the show was held in Shanghai, China, and was every bit as amazing as we were hoping it would be.
Some of Victoria’s Secret’s biggest stars, including Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima, took center stage at this year’s show. Others, such as Gigi Hadid, weren’t able to get a Chinese visa and couldn’t participate in the show. Word on the street is that Kendall Jenner
was absent because she has signed a contract with La Perla, a competing lingerie brand. Still, this year was not lacking in the beautiful models department by a long shot.
This year’s Fantasy Bra features diamonds, yellow sapphires, and blue topaz, set in 18k gold on VS’s Dream Angels Demi Bra, and as you can imagine, it’s quite the vision. Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro was chosen for the honor of modeling the Fantasy Bra this year, and it looked completely breathtaking on one of Victoria’s Secret’s newer Brazilian bombshells.
This year is also special because Victoria’s Secret has collaborated with Balmain to create sexy, ready-to-wear retail pieces, featuring lots of leather and lace. Umm, we can buy some of the pieces we see? Yes, please.
Last but not least, the musical acts blew their performances out of the water. From Miguel to Harry Styles to China’s very own Jane Zhang, this year’s fashion show was on fire, right down to the music. Well done, VS!
Thanksgiving Outfit Wins
Posted on November 20, 2017.
It’s so close to Thanksgiving, we can practically smell the turkey roasting in the oven. Yep, the countdown is on for getting together with family, counting our blessings, and stuffing our faces. But one question lingers… what to wear? Blush has you covered – we’ve chosen our 3 favorite Thanksgiving looks from our collection, so you’re sure to look picture-perfect all Thanksgiving weekend long.
1. Our Faux Suede Dress is simply adorable (but not so adorable that your aunt will pinch your cheeks this year), and features a front zipper detail along the front of the dress, as well as pockets (!), not to mention the fab and super chic faux suede. Accessorize away to make this look perfectly you.
2. The Satin One Shoulder Top is a perfect staple holiday piece, as it goes beyond being a basic black top with details like one long sleeve (and the other arm bare), and an elastic neckline, making it super versatile. It goes with everything from jeans to a skirt, so dress this baby up or down to your liking.
3. We suggest the Lioness Velvet Romper for the night before Thanksgiving, when you reunite with all of your old friends for a night out on the town, as this piece is fierce! This romper features velvet brocade detail and fun, flowy sleeves. It’s the perfect outfit to come roaring back on the scene in!

Stress-Free Thanksgiving Recipe
Posted on November 13, 2017.
Are you doing a casual friendsgiving this year? Or just looking for a low-maintenance way to celebrate Turkey Day with the fam? Either way, we found a really cute recipe by Brittany of www.ilovevegan.com for a vegan (yes, we said vegan) Thanksgiving bowl that is fast, easy, and quickly made non-vegan by adding turkey, if you like. This recipe features yummy veggies, potatoes, and drizzled with pecans, and is absolutely delicious serving up the holiday feels without the fuss… here is the recipe (for 2 servings worth of T-Day goodness):
Sweet Roasted Squash and Carrots
-1 large carrot, peel, quarter and cut into 2" long pieces
-½ sliced medium acorn squash
-1 tbsp olive oil
-1 tbsp brown sugar
-salt, to taste
-black pepper, to taste
Roasted Garlic Broccoli
-1½ -2 cup broccoli florets
-2 cloves minced garlic
-½ tbsp olive oil
-salt, to taste
-black pepper, to taste
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
-1½ cups brussels sprouts, halved
-½ tbsp olive oil
-1 tsp brown sugar
-salt, to taste
-black pepper, to taste
Mashed Creamer Potatoes
-1½ lb bag of potatoes (Russets work)
-1 cup vegetable broth
-1 tbsp vegan butter
-¼ tsp salt
-dried thyme and oregano (just a pinch of each)
Easy Vegan Gravy
-1 tbsp vegan butter (or olive oil)
-2 tbsp flour
-¼ tsp each of onion powder, thyme, and oregano
-1 cup vegetable broth
-1 can cranberry sauce
-¼ cup chopped pecans
1. Preheat oven to 425F. Prepare a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In a medium sized bowl, mix carrots and acorn squash with olive oil, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Spread both the carrots and the squash out on your baking sheet. Next, mix halved brussels sprouts in the same bowl with brown sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper, then spread them out on the same baking sheet. Finally, mix the broccoli with olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Spread the broccoli on the baking sheet and put baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes. About halfway through the cooking time, flip and stir everything on the baking sheet and sprinkle everything with ¼ cup of chopped pecans, and top the squash with an extra sprinkle of brown sugar.
Mashed Creamer Potatoes
1. While everything is baking, you can boil your potatoes and make your gravy. Boil the potatoes for 15 minutes (until tender) before mashing them with vegetable broth, vegan butter, salt, dried thyme and oregano.
Easy Vegan Gravy
1. In a small saucepan, heat vegan butter over medium heat. Once hot, whisk in the flour, salt, thyme, and oregano, and mix well. Cook for 1 minute before slowly whisking in the veggie broth. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thick, adjusting the consistency with extra vegetable broth as needed
Serve with cranberry sauce, top mashed potatoes and/or roasted veggies with gravy, and have a lovely Thanksgiving!
