And The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year Is…
Posted on December 13, 2017.
Pantone has announced their 2018 color of the year, and she is a beauty. The color is Ultra Violet, which is a color that symbolizes a lot of things we look forward to in the new year. A cosmic shade of blue-based purple, Ultra Violet is an imaginative and brilliant color that inspires contemplation and inventive solutions to problems. After a roller coaster year in 2017, the calmness of Ultra Violet is much needed, to say the least.
Let’s be real. Our country has become wounded and divided over the past year, not only due to idealogical and political divides, but also due to many natural disasters. 2017 was pretty chaotic, all around. Pantone definitely recognizes this, as they reportedly chose this color to reflect a “complex” time. Ultra Violet is not only calming, mystical and spiritual, but also creative and somewhat provocative. It does indeed represent new possibilities and a hopeful future. We are inspired by Pantone’s color choice to think outside of the box for ways to make our unique mark on healing our country.
It definitely doesn’t hurt that this color is also super pretty! Oh, the nail shades to come! Cheers to a year full of new possibilities!
The VS Angels Take Shanghai
Posted on November 29, 2017.
The Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show has taken its Angels all around the world, and always features top-notch musical performances paired with the hottest lingerie imaginable on all of your favorite models. This year, the show was held in Shanghai, China, and was every bit as amazing as we were hoping it would be.
Some of Victoria’s Secret’s biggest stars, including Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima, took center stage at this year’s show. Others, such as Gigi Hadid, weren’t able to get a Chinese visa and couldn’t participate in the show. Word on the street is that Kendall Jenner
was absent because she has signed a contract with La Perla, a competing lingerie brand. Still, this year was not lacking in the beautiful models department by a long shot.
This year’s Fantasy Bra features diamonds, yellow sapphires, and blue topaz, set in 18k gold on VS’s Dream Angels Demi Bra, and as you can imagine, it’s quite the vision. Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro was chosen for the honor of modeling the Fantasy Bra this year, and it looked completely breathtaking on one of Victoria’s Secret’s newer Brazilian bombshells.
This year is also special because Victoria’s Secret has collaborated with Balmain to create sexy, ready-to-wear retail pieces, featuring lots of leather and lace. Umm, we can buy some of the pieces we see? Yes, please.
Last but not least, the musical acts blew their performances out of the water. From Miguel to Harry Styles to China’s very own Jane Zhang, this year’s fashion show was on fire, right down to the music. Well done, VS!
Thanksgiving Outfit Wins
Posted on November 20, 2017.
It’s so close to Thanksgiving, we can practically smell the turkey roasting in the oven. Yep, the countdown is on for getting together with family, counting our blessings, and stuffing our faces. But one question lingers… what to wear? Blush has you covered – we’ve chosen our 3 favorite Thanksgiving looks from our collection, so you’re sure to look picture-perfect all Thanksgiving weekend long.
1. Our Faux Suede Dress is simply adorable (but not so adorable that your aunt will pinch your cheeks this year), and features a front zipper detail along the front of the dress, as well as pockets (!), not to mention the fab and super chic faux suede. Accessorize away to make this look perfectly you.
2. The Satin One Shoulder Top is a perfect staple holiday piece, as it goes beyond being a basic black top with details like one long sleeve (and the other arm bare), and an elastic neckline, making it super versatile. It goes with everything from jeans to a skirt, so dress this baby up or down to your liking.
3. We suggest the Lioness Velvet Romper for the night before Thanksgiving, when you reunite with all of your old friends for a night out on the town, as this piece is fierce! This romper features velvet brocade detail and fun, flowy sleeves. It’s the perfect outfit to come roaring back on the scene in!

Stress-Free Thanksgiving Recipe
Posted on November 13, 2017.
Are you doing a casual friendsgiving this year? Or just looking for a low-maintenance way to celebrate Turkey Day with the fam? Either way, we found a really cute recipe by Brittany of www.ilovevegan.com for a vegan (yes, we said vegan) Thanksgiving bowl that is fast, easy, and quickly made non-vegan by adding turkey, if you like. This recipe features yummy veggies, potatoes, and drizzled with pecans, and is absolutely delicious serving up the holiday feels without the fuss… here is the recipe (for 2 servings worth of T-Day goodness):
Sweet Roasted Squash and Carrots
-1 large carrot, peel, quarter and cut into 2" long pieces
-½ sliced medium acorn squash
-1 tbsp olive oil
-1 tbsp brown sugar
-salt, to taste
-black pepper, to taste
Roasted Garlic Broccoli
-1½ -2 cup broccoli florets
-2 cloves minced garlic
-½ tbsp olive oil
-salt, to taste
-black pepper, to taste
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
-1½ cups brussels sprouts, halved
-½ tbsp olive oil
-1 tsp brown sugar
-salt, to taste
-black pepper, to taste
Mashed Creamer Potatoes
-1½ lb bag of potatoes (Russets work)
-1 cup vegetable broth
-1 tbsp vegan butter
-¼ tsp salt
-dried thyme and oregano (just a pinch of each)
Easy Vegan Gravy
-1 tbsp vegan butter (or olive oil)
-2 tbsp flour
-¼ tsp each of onion powder, thyme, and oregano
-1 cup vegetable broth
-1 can cranberry sauce
-¼ cup chopped pecans
1. Preheat oven to 425F. Prepare a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In a medium sized bowl, mix carrots and acorn squash with olive oil, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Spread both the carrots and the squash out on your baking sheet. Next, mix halved brussels sprouts in the same bowl with brown sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper, then spread them out on the same baking sheet. Finally, mix the broccoli with olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Spread the broccoli on the baking sheet and put baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes. About halfway through the cooking time, flip and stir everything on the baking sheet and sprinkle everything with ¼ cup of chopped pecans, and top the squash with an extra sprinkle of brown sugar.
Mashed Creamer Potatoes
1. While everything is baking, you can boil your potatoes and make your gravy. Boil the potatoes for 15 minutes (until tender) before mashing them with vegetable broth, vegan butter, salt, dried thyme and oregano.
Easy Vegan Gravy
1. In a small saucepan, heat vegan butter over medium heat. Once hot, whisk in the flour, salt, thyme, and oregano, and mix well. Cook for 1 minute before slowly whisking in the veggie broth. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thick, adjusting the consistency with extra vegetable broth as needed
Serve with cranberry sauce, top mashed potatoes and/or roasted veggies with gravy, and have a lovely Thanksgiving!
Glitzy Glitter Palettes For The Holidays
Posted on November 9, 2017.
Finally! We are upon the most wonderful time of the year! This means many different things to many different people, including everything from hot chocolate to over-the-knee boot season. One of our favorite parts of this season: glittery eyeshadow palettes. They are an absolute must for bringing a little sparkle to this magical time of year. Many of our favorite makeup lines actually come out with seasonal collections, and we’ve made a little list of our must-have palettes for this holiday season. So whether you plan on gifting them or treating yourself to them, these are the palettes to get your hands on:
-We’re loving Urban Decay’s Heavy Metals Holiday Collection, featuring 20 brand new, extra metallic shades in a rad metal lavender box. This collection gives you all the goods, as it’s made up of half neutrals, and half stand-out jewel tones like teal and emerald. Yes.
-MILK has an amazing all-around holiday collection this year, but their Snow Ball Eye Compacts are of special interest to us. Available in either Rose Gold or Gold, both palettes feature a gorgeous selection of frosty nudes with plenty of shimmer, with the Gold collection being a little icier and the Rose collection being a little warmer. The foiled box completes the cold, sparkly vibe that MILK is going for.
-Last but certainly not least is 2017’s make-up breakout star, Fenty Beauty. Yep, Rih Rih hit us for the holidays with her Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette. Not your typical holiday eye palette, but maybe that’s why we like it so much. Described as “celestial” and “star-dusted,” this collection includes variations of greens, blues, pinks, and neutrals, and we can’t get enough of it. Even better is the rainbow case of the palette. It’s so NOT holiday themed, but Santa, all we want for Christmas is the Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette.
The Lion King, 2.0
Posted on November 3, 2017.
Disney’s latest thing is live-action versions of its most popular animated classics, and we’re into it. This year, they released a live-action version of “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson, which totally satisfied our cravings for the classic we grew up with, but with a fresh, modern spin.
People are losing their minds over the just-announced next live-action Disney movie in the works, which is none other than ‘90s favorite “The Lion King.” We are so ready to circle back into the Circle of Life! But that’s not even the kicker. Guess who will be the voice of Nala, Simba’s friend/crush? The one and only Beyonce! We can only imagine the soundtrack, and we’re getting chills just thinking about it. Other main parts include Donald Glover as Simba, and James Earl Jones coming back to voice Mufasa again, the first time being in the animated version. But yeah, we’re still pretty stuck on Bey voicing Nala (!).
Have patience, Blush girls, because this movie is slated to come out in early 2019. Also, it’s going to be a bit different than other “live-action” Disney movies, in the sense that it will use new technology to bring the African jungle to you. Photo-realistic animation brings the landscape and realistic-looking animals alive on the big screen, bringing you a life-like story, voiced by your favorite stars (BEY!).
We are too excited for this super-cool remake of a Disney fave! For something this good, we will happily wait!
Star Style: Halloween!
Posted on November 1, 2017.
Halloween is over, and we have the pictures to prove it. This year was a blast, maybe even more so because some of our favorite celebrities got in on the fun, with super creative costumes (inspiration for next year?). Here were some winners:
-Kim Kardashian as Selena Quintanilla. While Selena was quite a popular costume this year (Demi Lovato and America Ferrera also dressed up as the late Queen of Tejano music), nobody rocked this look quite like Kim K. Dressed in a jumpsuit modeled after the last outfit Selena performed in, along with a wig (for volume and bangs) and bright red lipstick, Kim looked ever the part of Selena. Well done, Kim!
-Best family costume definitely goes to the Timberlake/Biel clan, with Justin dressing up as Buzz Lightyear, Jessica dressing up as a very cute Jessie, and their little one, Silas, decked out as Woody. Everything from Jessie’s yarn braid to Buzz’s helmet was on point, and Silas was completely adorbs. Love.
-Chrissy Teigen nailed it as Carmen Miranda from “Copacabana” (aka The Chiquita Banana Girl). The DIY-queen paired an off-the-shoulder puffy sleeved top with a layered tulle skirt, then added chunky layered necklaces, and of course, a headpiece layered high with fruit. Her costume was fun, bright, and vibrant. Her best accessories? John Legend as Groucho Marx, and their baby Luna as a little pineapple. Chrissy Teigen for the win!
We hope you had the best (and spookiest) Halloween ever! Countdown to Thanksgiving begins now!

Nail-Spiration: Halloween Edition
Posted on October 26, 2017.
With Halloween just a few days away, you’ve likely already prepped your costume, and maybe your makeup as well. Did you forget your nails? If so, we have some Halloween-y inspiration that will get your talons looking terrifying in no time. Here are some quick and creative ideas we love:
-A Halloween take on a French mani? Separate the whites of your nails with a Frankenstein-looking stitch design. Use black polish to create border line, and make little parallel lines along original black line, resembling stitches. This look is quick, easy, and SCARY!
-A modern take on candy corn? If minimalism is your thing, round up some orange and yellow nail polish, and cover a diagonal half of the nail yellow. Let it dry, then paint a vertical orange stripe down the other side of nail. Voila! Looking chic AND delicious!
-For a more gruesome look, paint thumb and pinky nails bright red. Then, paint tips of in-between nails the same red, but with a wavy border where the whites of your nails end, and little drips of red onto the bed of your nail, as if they are bleeding from the tips up. A scary rendition of a French manicure, if you will.
There you have it! Creepy-chic nails, just in time for Halloween.
We Love Group Halloween Costumes!
Posted on October 20, 2017.
Ever since you’ve pretty much been born, this time of year has brought upon a Halloween costume. Now that we’re all grown-ups, here is a fun twist on picking your outfit for October 31st: do a DIY group costume! Whether with your besties, or in the office, select something that everyone can get in on, and add their own custom touch to! Here are some of the best ideas we’ve come across:
-Party Animals! LC of The Hills fame had the super classy yet fun idea to pair floor-length dresses and glittery jewelry with animal headpieces, like antlers and bunny ears. Think getting dressed to the nines, then using your favorite Snapchat filter. So simple, yet so genius! And you can be as DIY as you want to be, either creating your “animal” headband yourself, or totally cheating and getting cat ears on Amazon.
-Lisa Frank Gang! The 90s are totally back, and we couldn’t be happier about it. With Lisa Frank back in the spotlight after her recent Target collections, we remember fondly the days when we had LF folders, pencils, and backpacks. What better way to honor all that is Lisa Frank than get a group together to dress up like they just walked straight out of her magical world? Nothing, clearly. Get this look by mixing and matching basics in neon/bold colors, and adding Lisa Frank-like wild touches, such as bright animal ears, rainbow wigs, and funky shoes. When in doubt, go with hot pink!
-Tropicana Girls! This is a fun and colorful, yet really easy group costume to pull off. Start with black & white basics like leotards, leggings, ruffle tops, and even bikini tops or one-piece swimwear. Then, layer on the color! Bright, patterned sarongs, bangle bracelets, and hoop earrings. Of course, you need to top off this look with fruit! Take stretchy, colorful, headbands, and hot glue fake fruit up high onto the headband (make sure to use lots of glue, since you want this thing to stay on your head). You can also fill a woven basket with fruit (fake or real) for the full-on Tropicana Girl effect. Add maracas as desired.
Happiest of Halloweens, and have fun with your costume!
